Game for N64, developed by Rare, Ltd.

Main characters are Sabre, Krystal, Tricky, Kyte, Randorn, General Scales, Quan Ata Lachu, and Drakor.

The entirety of gameplay takes place on the planet of Sauria, although the backstory takes place on the planet Animus.

Geography Notes

Ocean Point Temple in SFA is the Walled City of DP. SFA's Walled City is, in fact, DP's EarthWalker Temple. The path from Cape Claw and the LightFoot Village should link to Discovery Falls, not ThornTail/Swapstone Hollow. DarkIce Mines being "across the river" may place the start of it's path where the path to LightFoot Village starts. The Krazoa face in Cape Claw is actually the entrance to DP's Krazoa Fortress, in which the Krazoa Palace is situated.

GAMEPLAY

Known gameplay starts similarly to Star Fox Adventures (called SFA for the rest of this page), with Krystal flying on an unnamed CloudRunner persuing General Scales' Galleon. Like in SFA, you have to take out the turrets, then the propeller, and finally the bow. Krystal's staff wasn't knocked out of her hand in the opening, by the way. On the galleon, a SharpClaw starts attacking you, and fighting with Krystal is near identical to Fox's gameplay. (Note: No tutorial on fighting is ever given from what I can gather.) (Note: defeating the sharpclaw makes it drop an energy crystal ball thing, these are used to cast magic, and are seemingly only obtained from defeated enemies.) Walking onto the main deck of the ship, the cutscene with Scales starts. (Note: in DP he refers to himself as the dictator of the SharpClaw, NOT Dinosaur Planet.) Kyte is revealed to be the bird trapped in the cage, and as Scales readies to approach (and probably kill) Krystal, he gets struck by lightning (channeled through the cage, surprisingly not effecting Kyte) and falls off the galleon. Krystal tries freeing Kyte, but can't open the cage.

The Galleon eventually arrives at a place called Warlock Mountain. Krystal leaves Kyte to explore. Inside the mountain is a sort of palace, presumably Krazoan. She discovers her adoptive father Randorn there, and he is badly injured. After some backstory that was cut from SFA, he sets Krystal off with his spellbook to Discovery Falls, as there is an ancient shrine there that may hold answers. After using her new Projectile Spell to activate switches to free her to leave, she return to the Galleon just to discover that Scales has taken it back, and escapes as Krystal fends off SharpClaw. She then discovers a passage to a SwapStone named Rubble, who changes gameplay to Sabre.

(Note: not sure where Sabre's gameplay starts. My best guess would be the beginning of the Ice Mountain.) Sabre's first task is to rescue the EarthWalker Prince Tricky. After defeating a SharpClaw guard, he gains a key to (access the holding area where Tricky is kept?/key to the Jet Bike?). (lol Drakor's ship drops him off) After a brief exchange of words, Tricky runs off and the two blue SharpClaw persues on their Jet Bikes. After a quick race, Sabre catches up with Tricky, and they head off through the Northern Wastes (SnowHorn Wastes in SFA). Tricky has different actions he can do, called Sidekick Commands, including Dig (revealing items, sometimes revealing Duster caves!) and Flame (Sets fire to/melts things). (Note: Not sure if Tricky still learns Flame from that hungry hungry SnowHorn..) Sabre needs to return Tricky to his mother, the EarthWalker Queen, so they travel to SwapStone Hollow (became ThornTail Hollow in SFA). However, they find that she has been injured! After scrounging up some white root for her (Note: not 100% sure of it's DP name, will research), she feels a bit better and offers up more or less the same stuff she does in SFA. Six Spellstones must be placed inside the two Force Point Temples, Volcano and Desert. (Not Ocean, as in SFA.) Heading back into Northern Wastes, Sabre and Tricky find the SnowHorn guardian trapped under ice. After presumably a similar predicament to SFA, he is freed and reveals that his Spellstone was hidden deep in the DarkIce Mines by his daughter. (pretty much same as SFA.) As they reach the Mines, gameplay shifts back to Krystal.

Krystal has reached Cape Claw, an encampment of the SharpClaw. After a short run-in with a LightFoot, she manages to rescue the CloudRunner Princess Kyte. They then proceed to flee to Discovery Falls. However, on their way there, they get captured by the LightFoot. (Note: probably VERY SIMILAR to SFA, where random CloudRunner (Kyte in DP) fends off LightFoot villagers as you spin on a stick lawl) After some events (probably similar to the Tasks), Krystal is cleared up and the path to Discovery Falls is opened. (Note: Interesting that ThornTail Hollow in SFA is geographically where Discovery Falls would be. Hmm...) Krystal and Kyte figure out a way inside the shrine there, and Krystal partakes in the first Krazoa Test in DP. (Note: possession of a Krazoa Spirit in DP is WAYYY much cooler than in SFA. The irises of your eyes turn a glowing blue. GLOWING BLUE.) The Krazoa Spirit then directs her to return to Warlock Mountain. Gameplay switches to Sabre.

Darkice Mines. Boss Galdon. Activation by the SnowHorn. (Note: the 'Distract' command makes Galdon WAYYY easier. Just saying.)
Back in ThornTail Hollow, you are directed "across the river" to a place called Diamond Bay. After helping out a PointBack, he gives Sabre a map to the Volcano Force Point Temple. (Note: There is an item in SFA's data called the Bay Diamond. Not sure what it's used for, though.)
Volcano Force Point Temple, pt. 1. Back to Krystal.

She arrives, and the Spirit leaves her body, revealing itself to be Quan Ata Lachu, a being that the Krazoa worshipped. The spirit gets released deep in the mountain, where a diamond/crystal starts to slowly turn. Here it is revealed that retrieving the seven other Krazoa Spirits will be integral to the game. After a bit more story left out of SFA, they decide to return Kyte to her kingdom. They travel through Moon Mountain Pass, eventually reaching the entrance to the CloudRunner Fortress. However, it seems overrun by SharpClaw and robotic drones. (Note: yeah, the drones are supposed to appear out of place and everything. Something not explained in SFA, but these were given to Scales by Drakor. lol.) They reach a courtyard, where Scales is interrogating the Queen CloudRunner about the whereabouts of her Spellstone. When she refuses, General Scales kills her. (Note: !!!) Before they can react very much, a drone knocks them out from behind. Krystal wakes in the same jail cell with the same puzzle as the one in SFA. She escapes, and uses her Disguise Spell to get her staff back. (I assume she learns it somewhere in the jail area.) She then rescues a dinosaur (not sure what species he is atm), and they get to work restoring power to the fortress, most likely the same ways as you do in SFA. Krystal must then find and calm Kyte's siblings, using the #1 most awesome item in the game. (CloudRunner Flute is best flute~) They eventually make their way beneath the fortress, stumbling into the treasure room to find Scales discovering the Spellstone. He passes it to a henchman on a Jet Bike and then warps away using his belt device. Krystal gives chase to the spellstone on a convenient extra Jet Bike. After retrieving it, it gets activated by the freed dinosaur, and they venture off to find the Desert Force Point Temple. Sabre time!

On their way back to somewhere (outline's a little vague here..) Sabre and Tricky happen across a second Krazoa Shrine. They then detour to Warlock Montain to release it, and this second spirit causes the diamond to spin a little faster, starting to absorb magic from the mountain. Tricky then wants to check in on his mother, who has since returned to their home at the EarthWalker Temples. They locate the Queen, and she makes a request: That Sabre collect the Sun and MoonStones, and rescue the King EarthWalker from inside the Walled City! He must leave Tricky behind, though. Luckily enough, though, he discovers a baby egg that soon hatches to reveal a baby RedEye, who becomes a temporary Sidekick. (Note: Apparently, the RedEye has a command unique to it, I have not a clue what that command may be yet.) Sabre eventually happens upon the King EarthWalker, getting bullied by a group of HookClaw. The HookClaw attempt to take over the city, but with the help of a vague Spellstone Guardian (He has little to no info whatsoever ;-;) they and the RedEye fend them off. As thanks for also returning his RedEye son, he grants Sabre his Spellstone after a challenge. This Spellstone gets activated, and they return to the EarthWalker Temple, where the King EarthWalker reveals the Communication Chamber, where he originally contacted Randorn. Without further ado, they set off for Volcano Force Point Temple again. Gameplay returns to Krystal.

Krystal and Kyte set off across a vast desert called the Golden Plains. (Think Gerudo Desert, but larger lol.) Eventually they make it to the Desert Force Point Temple, and release the SpellStone inside. (Note: As stated earlier, the Desert temple doesn't use the Ocean temple level data, and as such, I'm not sure anybody knows what the place looks like..) Making their way back, a Krazoa mirage appears to them in the Golden Plains, telling them that Sabre will need to collect MoonSeeds from beneath SwapStone Hollow to aid Krystal. (Note: Seems to be optional. Quite possibly, you only really need to collect one or two, although if you collect them all and plant them, the areas you can access would likely give you items that would influence a key point near the end...) Krystal discovers another Krazoa Shrine in Moon Mountain Pass, and after collecting it, it tells her that releasing six inside Warlock Mountain will open the Krazoa Palace. Krystal treks back to Warlock Mountain, releasing it. Randorn asks about Sabre, who he hasn't seen yet (Note: This suggests that Sabre and Krystal have different paths into Warlock Mountain, as Sabre has also been there and yet hasn't encountered Randorn.) With the third Krazoa Spirit returned, they return to SwapStone Circle.

Leaving VFPT, Sabre and Tricky discover the MoonStone. Returning it to the EarthWalker Temple, a small test is completed, opening the top of the Temple, where another Krazoa Shrine lay.(Further proof that SFA's Walled City is actually DP's EathWalker Temple.) Sabre collects the fourth Spirit and heads to Warlock Mountain. When there, he searches for and calls out to his father, but Randorn is too weak to answer. (Note: :( ) Disheartened, Sabre frees the Spirit and returns to SwapStone Hollow.

At SwapStone Circle, the LightFoot Chief opens a passage from his village. (Note: Does this mean that SwapStone Circle was also supposed to be near the LightFoot Village? The Chief certainly does open a passage in SFA, but that's to a Krazoa Spirit... hmm...) The passage leads to the dinosaur burial grounds, BlackWater Canyon. Kyte is refused entrance, and she is replaced temporarily by a LightFoot guide. (Note: I think it's safe to assume the LightFoot would also have a unique Command.) They eventually come upon a great tree called the Tree of Souls, a magical tree that absorbs a dinosaur's life energy when it dies, returning it to the planet. (Reminds me of Avatar, heh.) The guardians of the area are a race called the ShadowHunter. Upon hearing the situation, the Chief agrees to give up his SpellStone (How nice of him!), but in the middle of the transaction, the Chief's son steals it and runs off! Krystal and the LightFoot chase him down, eventually cornering him inside the final burial area. The ShadowHunter stil refuses to give up the SpellStone, and their presence in the sacred grounds angers the spirits, causing a large bone monster to form, trapping the ShadowHunter and SpellStone in it's ribcage. Krystal and the LightFoot fight and defeat this Boss (Note: I'm researching possible names), and the ShadowHunter has a change of heart. They return to the Chief, who activates it, and Krystal returns to Kyte at SwapStone Circle. The Chief Lightfoot gives her an ancient Krazoa Tablet, telling her that it may help her in Cape Claw. Krystal and Kyte return to the Golden Plains to place their second (fourth total) SpellStone.

Once they return to Cape Claw, they are able to translate few of the ancient text there, opening some new passageways and eventually revealing another Krazoa Shrine. They still dunno where the Krazoa Palace could possibly be, but they release the spirit at Warlock Mountain. Randorn is collapsed on the ground, and they feed him to make him feel a bit better. He recalls how they got here, and hopes all will end well. (Note: This guy seems as useful as Link's Uncle in LttP...) She returns to SwapStone Circle.

It seems that the ThornTail finally trust Sabre, as they now open a path to the Willow Grove. Venturing on in, they notice that the Grove has seeming been warped and is inhabited by mutants, who are gruff and don't particularly like their situation. After they uncover another Krazoa Shrine, the mutant's leader tells them to return, as he might be able to get them access to Dragon Rock. They venture back to Warlock Mountain, and upon releasing the sixth Spirit, the diamond flashes, forming into a "sun". The Quan Ata Lachu then reveals more backstory, about how the Krazoa still exist, that they were involved in a great war, about how the evil must be stopped, how she doesn't refer to General Scales, etc.

The Krazoa Palace entrance in Cape Claw is now opened, and Krystal ventures on in. (Note: as mentioned before, the Krazoa face thing is the entrance to the Palace.) They are not able to make it that far in with the Krazoa Tablet, but the eventually happen upon a hidden cave containing a Translator Object! Now able to explore deeper, they finally reach a large central chamber, where a lone Krazoa sits. He states that the rest of the Krazoa are in a state of suspended animation, and that the Palace woke him up when the planet was attacked by a Kamerian, an ancient Dragon race who were the enemies of the Krazoa. This dragon is also the individual controlling Scales. After even more backstory, it is revealed that the last Great Kamerian was defeated above Sauria, and his remains fell to the surface at Dragon Rock. The planet, being of a magical nature, started keeping his heart and spirit alive. And the dragon's ancestor, Drakor, is trying to take the planet's energy (and the Kamerian spirit) for his own so he can wipe out the Krazoa once and for all.

A SpellStone used to be contained in the Palace, but holes in time and space have been torn in the area. (Note: "Fortress" is the word used here. It suggests that the Krazoa Palace was inside a larger area, the outermost gate being the Krazoa face in Cape Claw.) Krystal and Kyte are tasked with travelling through them to the future and/or past to retrieve the SpellStone. They first travel to the future in order to deduce where the stone ended up. The palace has been torn apart due to the planet becoming increasingly unstable, a massive black hole in the planet's center. Drakor has destroyed the Krazoa, the one from the present on the edge of death. He shows Krystal how Drakor took the SpellStone in the past, and had slain Sabre in battle at Warlock Mountain. He dies soon after. Krystal decides to enter one of the rifts into the past, to try to preempt the theft with her own.

They end up back in the Palace before the Great War. The Krazoa are out and about, although they aren't particularly nice... Krystal and Kyte must make their way to the SpellStone and steal it. On their way, they discover that the Krazoa were the ones who started the war, in order to wipe out the Kamerian so the Quan Ata Lachu will allow them to rule the galaxy unhindered. Krystal return to the present, but is troubled. Should they really be helping the Krazoa? Do they have a choice if Sauria needs to be saved? The Krazoa insists that they have changed, and that they now realize the races must live together in peace. She expresses some remaining doubt, but decides to return to the Desert Force Point Temple and finish shutting it down. As she places the SpellStone, the Temple starts powering down. But as she starts to leave, General Scales traps her and attacks with blind fury. The EarthWalker troops arrive, attempting to rescue her, but they can't break in. Krystal eventually defeats Scales, as the King finally bursts on in. He tells Krystal to take his belt and she does so, as it turns to stone. He then tells Krystal that Sabre might be able to fix it with the help of the mutant's leader. (Kind of ironic how Krystal seems to get the most game time in DP, heh)

Sabre takes the belt to the mutant leader, who is revealed to be an alchemist. They restore the belt, and it enables him to enter Dragon Rock without getting mutated! (Note: Tricky still follows you here.. wouldn't he get mutated? lol) Upon entering, the SharpClaw there don't even try to engage Sabre, as their leader had been slain and lack motivation to do so. Dragon Rock is pretty much the same as in SFA, with you having to rescue an EarthWalker, smashing barriers, rescuing the CloudRunner who helped Krystal, downing the turrets, and escorting a HighTop who clears the entrance to the giant tower in the center. Beneath the tower, Sabre finds the Kamerian Heart, the only remaining part of the Great Kamerian. However, it's hooked up to a form of life-support, with generators pumping it full of magic energy straight from the planet's core. And inside the heart lies the final SpellStone! He destroys the heart, retrieving the SpellStone. (Doesn't sound like that difficult of a boss battle, although we all know how hard Mother Brain can get...) However, Drakor shows up, and gives chase to Sabre. Sabre escapes, and the collapsing tower traps Drakor (albeit temporarily). Sabre returns to Willow Grove, where the mutants' leader is revealed to be the final SpellStone guardian. He activates the SpellStone, and Sabre and Tricky return to the Volcano Force Point Temple to shut it down for good. With the Heart destroyed and the SpellStones replaced, Drakor's plan has been stopped. However, without the final Krazoa Spirits returned, the rest of the Krazoa will remain in suspended animation, and Drakor is still powerful enough to destroy them as is. Now that the final SpellStone has been placed, a Krazoa Shrine rises from the depths of the Golden Plains.

Krystal hurries over to collect the seventh Krazoa Spirit, and upon returning to SwapStone Circle, she bids farewell to Kyte, who must leave to assume charge of the CloudRunners. She releases the Spirit at the top of the Mountain, and the statues there come to life. (If only that happened in Metroid Prime, heh) Turns out they are some of the remaining Krazoa. They begin aligning the planets in preparation for... something. (Apparently peaceful rule, but Hercules begs to differ :P) However, the final Krazoa must be returned soon (apparently there is a set time limit) or the alignment will not finish, and the remaining Krazoa will remain in slumber, easy prey for Drakor. Also, it is revealed that Randorn is on the verge of death. If they haven't been already, the rest of the MoonSeeds need to be planted and the resources gathered. (note: they don't /Actually/ need to be gathered, but it's a good idea to. Especially if the game tells you twice to do it, heh)

Sabre asks his SwapStone, Rocky, if he knows where the final Krazoa Spirit may be. Rocky tells him to go ask the SnowHorn leader, that he may know where it is. Back where his adventure started, he asks the SnowHorn, and he opens up the way to the final Krazoa Test: the Test of Sacrifice. Sabre has to prove he's willing to risk his life for a dinosaur's, and he gains the final Krazoa Spirit. Tricky returns to his family at EarthWalker Temple (Walled City in SFA. Need any more proof?). As Sabre reaches the top of the Mountain, Randorn will die if all the MoonSeeds weren't planted, else he will recover and reward Sabre and Krystal with... something. (I honestly have no information on what it is at this time.) Sabre then walks up, and releases the spirit...

Suddenly Plot Twist! Drakor swoops down and snatches up Sabre, causing the spirit to merge with Drakor! The Krazoa fire at them trying to intervene, but this only knocks Drakor and Sabre into the mountain, down into the core of the planet. This is where Krystal saw Drakor slay Sabre in her vision at Krazoa Palace. It's up to Sabre to defeat Drakor and save the universe...

...Yeah, that's all of the story that I've been able to find or deduce. I will edit and add more as I find more, and I plan on also adding information on controls and items, as well as characters as they are in DP.
