Bill Grey

Bill Grey is a fictional, supporting male character from the Star Fox series. He is an anthropomorphic bulldog with brown fur (although was originally actual gray in color, which even reflected his name). He made his official debut appearance in Star Fox 64. It is widely believed that Bill Grey is a reincarnation of Fay from the canceled game Star Fox 2.

Grey originally hails from planet Corneria, but has settled on planet Katina, as Grey is a member of the Cornerian Army, and he leads an outpost based there. Grey is considered an ace pilot in his own league. He first appeared as an ally in Star Fox 64 when Star Fox team assisted him in saving his Katinian outpost, and he later appears repaying Star Fox in either Solar or Sector X (depending on what route the player may take, although he would never appear in Sector X if the player never passed through Katina first). Grey's next appearance was in Star Fox Command, and his role did not change much from his first appearance.

Grey is an old friend of Fox McCloud, as they both went to the same military academy together, albeit they both later took different paths in serving their planet, as Grey joined the governmental army whilst McCloud reformed his father's team Star Fox, an independent mercenary group.

Grey's name is a reference to the character General William Grey, from the 1996 film Independence Day. This strongly evidenced by the fact that the mission on Katina in Star Fox 64 is very similar to a major final scene from the film where an alien destroyer was annihilated after its core was attacked.
