Though the [[EarthWalker]]'s favorite food, they are usually too hard for them to catch. In appearance, they are large, blue mushrooms. They are fed to [[Tricky]], filling the [[Tricky Energy]] meter, so he is able to perform various [[Sidekick Command]]s, which for one deplete the Tricky Energy meter. If the meter runs empty, Tricky will not follow [[Fox McCloud]]'s Commands, because of his hunger. GrubTubs are found all over the planet [[Sauria]], and can also be bought in [[ThornTail Store]], though for a very steep price, considering how easy the Fungi are to find. Fox has to stun the GrubTubs with a hit from [[Krystal's Staff]] before they can be collected, since they tend to hop around trying to avoid being captured. Fox can carry a maximum of 15 GrubTub Fungi at a time.

Fox can have up to 15 Blue GrubTub Fungi in his inventory. To catch a Blue GrubTub Fungus, Fox must whack it with the [[Krystal's Staff|Staff]] to stun it, then walk into it, which adds it into the inventory. Blue GrubTub Fungi are also asleep in the night, which makes it easier for Fox to capture them.
There is also a white variety, called [[White GrubTub Fungus]], which seems to have some healing properties. They are used to cure the [[Queen EarthWalker]]. Additionally, there is a much larger red variety, called [[Red GrubTub Fungus]], which is toxic.


These items allow Tricky to perform a [[Sidekick Command]], and his energy meter is represented by five Blue GrubTub icons. A Blue GrubTub Fungus is depleted from Tricky's energy bar for each time that he does a command. If his energy bar runs out, Tricky is unable to perform any further commands because of his hunger. Blue GrubTubs are very common as they appear in every world. Their first prominent role is in [[Snow Mountain]], which is where Fox meets Tricky. He is very hungry, and Fox must find and feed five Blue GrubTub Fungi to Tricky.

A Blue GrubTub Fungus is even for sale in the blue room of the [[ThornTail Store]]. Fox can purchase it for 12 [[Scarab]]s, but this is not required especially since they appear in most areas.
