The Sargasso Region is a large region of space in the Lylat System. An isolated region filled with little more than asteroids and space debris , it is also home to an abandoned space colony . The colony was later taken over and converted into a base to be used by Wolf O'Donnell and his criminal organization. During the Aparoid Invasion the Star Fox Team came here in search of Pigma Dengar who had stolen an aparoid core memory containing vital information about the species and there homeworld. When the criminal ruffians inside the colony refused to reveal the location of him and began to take a hostile stance against Star Fox, the team desided to take military action. Fox and Slippy were sent inside the base to search for pigma and finish off the troops, while Falco and Krystal took care of the fleet outside.

Later, Team Star Wolf arrived after reciving a destress call from there troops. This reunion was the introduction to Panther Caroso, and it's when the Star Fox Team noticed that Pigma is no longer a member. It is hinted that Fox already knew because Pigma's ship was different from that of a Wolfen.

Star Wolf admitted that Pigma was kicked out when Star Fox defeated them. After the Aparoid war the Sargasso space station was abandonded and was eventually captured by the cornerian military. After its capture it was refitted as a navial checkpoint for the Cornerian Navy.

The Sargasso Station is surrounded almost fully by an asteroid field, which makes tracking it very difficult.

Trivia

  • While inside the Sargasso base, enter the door on the highest floor of the stage. While the door is closed, take a Sniper Rifle and aim at the center of the door. The Sniper's targeting scope should appear red coloured, as if the door were an enemy. Shooting the door accomplishes nothing.
