He activated the climate control device once Fox brought it back up and had it infected by and Aparoid. He used it as a distraction to escape. As he traveled to the asteroid belt, he began to show the first signs of Aparoid infection. When the Star Fox team next found him, his ship was floating pilotless and he was out in the vaccuum of space next to a huge weapon. His lower half had been fused into the center of the weapon and was then completely absorbed into the machine.
