Falco Lombardi is a blue-feathered falcon and an ace pilot of the Star Fox team. He first appears in the first Star Fox game. His first name is the genus for birds of prey that include falcon, kestrels, kites and caracas. Falco himself looks like a red-throated caracara. His surname is derived from Carlo Rambaldi, a special effects artist.

Falco is a blue-feathered avian with long blue tail feathers and red plumage around his blue eyes. His appearance was based off of a red throated caracara. He also has an athletic yet lanky build, and is shown to be taller than Fox, as seen in the Super Smash Bros. games and Star Fox: Assault. Falco's name comes from the name of the falcon genus. Although Falco is in appearance a bird, he seems to lack the ability to fly.

| role = Ace Pilot of the Star Fox Team
Falco is one of the most respected and skilled pilots of the Star Fox Team. His personality is often brash, overconfident and cocky and possesses an uncooperative attitude, though he is devoted to his wingmates. Falco has incredible nerves, and can accurately predict the tide of battle. He also tends to refer to his enemies as "prey," as shown in Star Fox Command, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Star Fox 64. He also prefers flying aircraft to other vehicles, as evidenced in the ending of the Aquas campaign in Star Fox 64, where he states that he would take the sky any day after the Blue-Marine managed to come through Aquas upon destroying Bacoon, as well as his activation quote when activating his Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, "Personally, I prefer the air". Although overall during his career(s) on the Star Fox Team, he was significantly cocky, he has mellowed out over time. As the team's ace pilot, Falco is the best Arwing pilot in the team, making him very handy in battle. However, he has a tendency to not follow advice (he dislikes authority), and also likes to be late and appear at the last minute to save the day (as seen in the end of Adventures, and in several missions in Command). Falco often joins and leaves the Star Fox team throughout the series of games. After Star Fox 64, Falco leaves the team, returning at the end of Star Fox Adventures. Depending on the path in Star Fox Command, Falco may or may not leave Star Fox after joining, but he stays in the default ending. Ironically, in one of the Star Fox Command endings, Falco is the only original member to stay, even though he left the team several times throughout the story. Falco's personality is very similar to Han Solo from the Star Wars series. The Nintendo Power Official Player's Guide for Star Fox Assault even compares Falco with Solo.

Early history
Not much of Falco's early history is known. He was born on Corneria and attended the military academy, then left to take part in gangs such as the Hot Rodders gang along with Katt Monroe and Free as a Bird, of which he led. When Andross threatened the Lylat System for the second time, he recieved an invitation from Fox to help form a new Star Fox team, which he accepted.

When the Star Fox team was called to Corneria by General Pepper, Falco remarked at the surprising level of destruction. Falco helped Fox out by leading him towards the true leader of the Venomian Army's attack, the Attack Carrier. Falco helped his teammates throughout several missions until they came to Fichina. There, Star Fox was attacked by their rival team, Star Wolf. Falco was targeted by Leon Powalski, whom he shared a personal rivalry with. Falco managed to defeat Leon as Fox diffused a bomb set to destroy a Cornerian base.

On Zoness, Star Fox ran into Falco's old ally, Katt Monroe. Despite Katt's assistance, Falco tried his best to drive her off. After the mission on Zoness, Katt flew off and Falco attempted to contact her to find out where she had gone. Falco and the rest of Star Fox continued on their way until they finally came to Venom. Falco and the team flew through Area 6 and was able to make it to Andross's base. There, they were attacked by Star Wolf in advanced ships. Falco still managed to defeat Leon and Fox flew into Andross's lair to defeat him. After Andross's defeat, Falco and the rest of Star Fox returned to Corneria to collect their reward.

Falco also goes through the events of Star Fox Zero alongside Fox and the team.

Sometime after the events of Star Fox Zero, Falco left Star Fox to fly solo, due to both a lack of jobs and his restless nature. He ended up teaming up with Katt Monroe and her gang on Titania to investigate suspicious goings-on, and later teamed up with Fox to take down General Shears and his attempt to clone Andross. After this incident, he left both to wander the galaxy, and see where life took him. Shortly after Andross's resurrection on Sauria, Falco returned to save Fox during the final battle. Falco helped Fox by supplying him with Smart Bombs during the battle. Falco returned to the Great Fox asked to rejoin the team, to which Fox agreed. When Krystal came aboard the ship and Fox showed obvious signs of his feeling, Falco said nothing, but silently encouraged him.

Star Fox: Assault
A year after the events of Star Fox Adventures, Falco and his teammates came to Fortuna by request of the Cornerian Defense Force to deal with a rebellion led by Andrew Oikonny. Falco was the first to realize that their job was to stop the rebellion by silencing Oikonny for good. Falco followed his teammates to the Arwings and followed Oikonny to the surface of Fortuna. Once they caught up with Oikonny, Falco taunted him for trying to emulate Andross. Upon Oikonny's defeat, Falco watched as an Aparoid destroyed Oikonny's ship. Falco helped Fox fight the Aparoid and returned to the Great Fox after it was destroyed. There, he listened as Beltino Toad and General Pepper explained the Aparoid menace. Falco and the team were then sent by General Pepper to investigate a distress signal from Katina. Falco stayed in the air as Fox used his Landmaster tank to take out the Aparoids from the ground. When Fox was attacked by an enormous Aparoid walker, Falco was unable to help in the battle and Fox destroyed the creature alone. Without warning, Pigma Dengar escaped the base and stole the Core Memory from the Aparoid. The Star Fox team returned to the Great Fox and pursued Pigma. The team pursued Pigma to the Sargasso Space Hideout where they lost track of him. One of the ruffians hacked into their communication's channel and Falco demanded his identity. Fox told Falco and Krystal to handle the space front while he and Slippy took out the enemy teleporters in the base. Once Fox destroyed the teleporters, Star Wolf appeared. Falco fought against Leon once more until Fox defeated Leon. After the battle, Falco argued a bit with Star Wolf's newest member, Panther Caroso. Panther soon told the team where to find Pigma and the two teams left the base.

Upon their arrival at Fichina, Falco complained that the planet was nothing but snow and ice, to which Fox responded by saying that the planet had a climate control device. Peppy revealed that the device was done and Fox went down to fix it. Falco complained about Fox always wanting to be a hero, but conceded due to his dislike of ice. When Fox was attacked by Aparoid-infected sentry bots Falco flew down to save him. Falco then told Fox to ride on his wing while Peppy sent down an Arwing. Pigma then appeared and Falco chased after him. Unfortunately, Falco had to stop when an Aparoid infected the climate control device. Falco landed as the Arwing arrived and Fox got off. He then proceded to help Fox fight the Aparoid and the creature was defeated without damaging the device. The team followed Pigma to the Meteo Asteroid Belt. On the way, Falco taunted Pigma about trying to hide in an asteroid belt and Fox asked why Falco followed his team to the base Pigma had built in the Asteroid Belt. Falco was there when the team encountered Pigma's absorption into a giant Aparoid. The combined efforts of the team destroyed the robot and helped them claim the Core Memory. Upon their return to the Great Fox, the team sent the Core Memory to Beltino. There, Krystal was sent a telepathic message from Sauria. Fox delayed the attack on the Aparoid Homeworld to return to Sauria. Falco once again stayed in his Arwing and fought in the air. When Fox and Krystal began flirting before the mission, Falco took up the job of breaking them up and headed out. Falco and Slippy kept the skies clear as Fox and Krystal cleared the ground of hatchers and left when their job was finished.

When Fox and Krystal returned to the Great Fox, they recieved a distress signal from General Pepper saying that Corneria City and the defense force had been decimated. They soon lost contact with Pepper and Fox went down to Corneria to destroy a series of radar jammers. Falco once again complained about Fox going alone Fox explained that he couldn't risk all of them dying and Falco gave in. While the team was fighting, Falco came to the realization that the enemies they were fighting were probably Aparoid-infected Cornerians. Falco was just as surprised as anyone else when Fox was saved by Wolf and his team. Unfortunately, he was unable to do anything while Fox dealt with General Pepper, infected by the Aparoids. The team flew to the space around Corneria where the Beltino Orbital Gate was located. Beltino revealed that they had found the Aparoid Homeworld and the Aparoids' weakness to apoptosis. The gate was then attacked by a series of missiles. The Star Fox and Star Wolf teams managed to destroy the missiles and headed to the Aparoid Homeworld. Falco was there when the team first found the homeworld. For the third time, he stayed in the air while Fox destroyed the Aparoid hatchers on the ground. With the hatchers destroyed, the team tried to enter the Aparoid Queen's lair, but a new energy shield blocked their way. Peppy, flying critically damaged Great Fox, was forced to pilot the ship into the shield and destroy it. Falco tried to talk him out of it, but failed and the Great Fox crashed into the homeworld. The team then flew into the depths of the planet. There, they were followed by Star Wolf. Falco and Leon argued often while the teams flew through the caverns, but Star Wolf was forced to break off before the battle with the queen. During the battle with the queen, she imitated the voices of several characters, including Fox's father, James. Falco reminded Fox of his father's death and Fox snapped back at him. The team then fought the queens and fired the self-destruct program into her body. The queen fought off the program and began to escape. The team followed the queen and destroyed her, executing the program. With all Aparoids dying, the team escaped the planet fled to space. Upon their success, Falco rejoiced in the team's victory, especially once they found that Peppy had survived the Great Fox's destruction. It didn't take long for Falco to realize Fox knew about this from the beginning. Falco proceeded to ask Fox what would happen next and the team set off on a new journey.

Star Fox Command
After the events of Star Fox: Assault, Falco soon began to feel bored as a member of Star Fox. With Peppy gone off to lead the Corneria Defense Force and Krystal forced off the team by Fox, Falco felt there was no need for him on a rapidly degrading team. Falco eventually left the team once more to fly solo.

In this storyline, Falco decided to rejoin the team after meeting up on Aquas. Falco wanted to tell Fox something important, but the group was attacked by the Anglar before he could say anything. The team quickly dispatched the enemy forces and returned to the Great Fox II. Falco taunted Slippy by saying that his fiance, Amanda, was more of an asset than he was and quickly changed his attitude when he told Fox the bad news about Krystal joining Star Wolf. The team then proceded towards Sector Z to help General Peppy who was being chased by the Anglar Emperor. There, the team met up with Krystal, who had just been seperated from the rest of Star Wolf after destroying the Anglar base. Falco was glad to see Krystal again, but stood back when Fox got in the way. The four pilots then headed to the Asteroid Belt to help Peppy. When they arrived, Fox ordered his team to fall back if they ran into trouble, though Falco ignored this as usual and flew straight into the battle. The team defeated the Anglar Emperor and ended the Anglar army. Wolf's team arrived shortly after the battle and argued with Fox over taking their prize. Falco told them to calm down and said that they would be rid of their bounty before much longer and kept quiet as Krystal apologized to her old team as well as when Star Fox returned to Corneria to recieve their praise.
The Meteorite Trap
This story occurs if Fox decides to meet up with Falco in the Asteroid Belt.

Falco arrived just in time to help Fox in his fight against the Anglar in the Asteroid Belt. After the battle, Falco asked Fox if they really needed Slippy and suggested that they find Krystal. Fox disagreed and they made their way to Aquas. At Aquas, Falco and the team met Slippy's fiance, Amanda, and fought Slippy himself, hypnotized by Octoman. Octoman was quickly defeated and Fox finally gave in to Falco's advice to find Krystal.

Missile Attack
This story occurs if Fox and Slippy go to the Beltino Orbital Gate after saving Peppy, or if they choose not to fight Oikonny on Fichina.

Falco quickly met up with Fox and Slippy in the space around the Beltino Orbital Gate. They defeated the Anglar in the area and learned from Beltino Toad about a device made to neutralize the Venom Sea's acidity. Falco revealed that Krystal was on Katina and the team made their way to the planet.

Fox and Krystal
This story occurs if Krystal accepts Fox's apology on Katina, or if ROB 64 decides to follow Falco and Slippy on Katina, rather than Fox after leaving Aquas or the Asteroid Belt.

Falco and Slippy separated from Fox on Katina. There, they met up with an old ally, Bill Grey, and helped him fight off the Anglar in the area. Bill revealed that Krystal had become an icy killer. Falco insulted Fox for his stupidity when he heard this. Falco followed Fox when he issued the order to go to Titania. When they got there, Krystal quickly snapped at Slippy showing her colder self. Falco defended him for once and told her to calm down. Krystal then revealed important information about Andross's past and the team fought one of his old bioweapons to claim a device that would neutralize the acidity of the Venom Sea. The team quickly got to Venom and used the device to enter the Venom Sea. There, they stormed the Anglar's base and defeated the emperor for good. Together, Falco and Slippy helped Krystal forgive Fox and the team made their way to Aquas to meet Amanda.

Goodbye, Fox
This story occurs if ROB 64 follows Peppy after helping Lucy save him on Corneria.

Falco was there when Peppy arrived to reveal important information about Titania and Andross. The team retrieved a device made to rid the acidity of the Venom Sea and piloted towards Venom. Falco was the most surprised when Fox revealed his plans to dissolve the team, but understood the reason. The team worked together and was finally able to defeat the Anglar Emperor. After the disbanding of the Star Fox team, Falco disappeared for a long time. He eventually reappeared when Marcus McCloud approached him to join his own Star Fox team. Falco decided to join, taking up the same role that Peppy did when Fox reformed the team.

Falco's Decision
This story occurs if Fox sends ROB 64 to find Falco after his first fight against the Anglar.

After meeting up with ROB on Katina, Falco assisted Cornerian pilot Bill Grey in clearing the area of Anglarian forces. The two easily finished off any Anglar and soon split up. Upon returning, Falco basked in his victory as ROB tried to explain that Krystal was a member of Star Wolf. ROB showed Falco a Star Wolf conversation he had intercepted that showed a new, colder Krystal. Falco wondered whether it really was Krystal and followed them to the Asteroid Belt. There, ROB and Falco missed Star Wolf, but encountered a group of Anglar and Falco's old friend, Katt Monroe. The two defeated the Anglar forces quickly, but Falco upset Katt, causing her to leave.

The Ultimate Weapon
This story occurs if Fox decides to recruit Wolf after fighting him on Fichina.

Falco returned to the Great Fox, mistaking Wolf for Fox. Falco quickly got angry at the idea of Fox hiring Wolf. He revealed vital information about an enormous satellite being built on Solar. He reluctantly agreed to Wolf's plan to destroy the satellite and helped the two enact the plan. He then went with Fox to Titania per request of Peppy.

Dash Makes a Choice
This story occurs if Wolf chooses to leave Fox and Falco after fighting on Solar.

Falco was glad to see Wolf leave and taunted him running. He was surprised to see that their contact, a Cornerian pilot named Dash Bowman, was so young. He helped Dash retrieve a special device that purified the Venom Sea. When Dash revealed himself to be Andross's grandson, Falco wanted to rid themselves of Dash, but Fox listened to Dash and the three headed towards Venom. After defeating the Anglar Emperor, Falco began to feel attached to Dash, even telling Dash that he had nothing to do with the death of James McCloud. He then left Dash on Venom at his request and left to return to Corneria.

Wolf's Plot
This story occurs if Wolf stays with Fox and Falco after fighting on Solar.

Falco followed Fox and Wolf to Titania on advice sent by Slippy. There, the three
defeated Andross's bioweapon and claimed a device that would neutralize the acidity of the Venom Sea. Wolf took the device and Falco argued with himself for trusting Wolf. ROB then suggested the two follow Wolf to Sector Y.

The Curse of Pigma
This story occurs if ROB 64 stays with Fox and Falco after Wolf betrays them.

In Sector Y, Falco and Fox ran into the remains of Pigma Dengar. Falco criticized himself again for falling into the trap, but was able to defeat Pigma with Fox's help. The two listened to Wolf's announcement of victory over the Anglar. Falco was extremely angry with Wolf's team for taking the glory and agreed with Fox about leaving Lylat to go to the planet Papetoon in hopes of escaping the past. Fox stayed in a deep depression shortly after this time, but Falco suggested that the two join the G-Zero racing organization. Here, the two left behind their days of Star Fox and became racing legends.

Pigma's Revenge
This story occurs if Falco decides to continue pursuing Krystal after missing her in the Asteroid Belt.

Deciding to leave Fox behind to find Krystal, Falco headed to Sector X to intercept Star Wolf. Unfortunately, Star Wolf had already cleared the area. Falco instead came up against the Pigma Robot, a robot that contained the remnants of the mind of Pigma Dengar. Falco was once again assisted by Katt and, together, they destroyed Pigma. When Falco returned to the Great Fox, he recieved a message from Fox saying that they defeated the Anglar. Fox and Krystal had made up and Slippy was getting married. Falco, unable to face his friends after such a disgrace, decided not to go to Aquas and meet his friends. Falco wallowed in selfpity for some time before Katt Monroe gave him the advice to start a new team. Falco teamed up with Katt and the Cornerian pilot, Dash Bowman, to form a new team known as Star Falco.

Super Smash Bros. series
Falco has appeared as an unlockable character in every Super Smash Bros. title from Super Smash Bros. Melee and onward. He is slower than Fox, but has the best jump height of all the characters.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Falco made his Smash Bros. premiere in Super Smash Bros. Melee, the second game of the series. Here, he was shown to be even faster than Fox and had an even better jump. His appearance is based off of concept art from the original Star Fox game. While Fox's Blaster was demoted in strength, Falco's Blaster could stun its target, but could not be used rapidly, just like Fox's Blaster in the original game. The Falco Phantasm attack is similar to the Fox Illusion, but is faster and covered less distance. Falco's Fire Bird attack is his recovery move. It is more powerful than Fox's, but does not have as much reach. Falco also uses a Reflector that can be used to reflect enemy attacks. It works just like Fox's Reflector. In Melee, Falco is unlocked by clearing the 100 Man Melee and defeating him in battle.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Falco returned in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, once more as an unlockable character. Falco is unlocked in the same manner as he was in the previous game, which was clearing the 100 Man Brawl. Falco's appearance in this game is similar to Fox's in that his character build is based off his appearance in Star Fox Command with a more realistic appearance. Many of his moves are unchanged, though his blaster does travel a longer distance. Falco's Final Smash is the Landmaster, just like Fox and Wolf. Falco's Landmaster is the weakest of the three, but it is also the one that can fly for the longest amount of time and can be maneuvered more easily than the other two.

The Subspace Emissary
Mirroring his tendency to appear late in the Star Fox games, Falco appeared at the last second to save Fox and Diddy Kong from Bowser and his Dark Cannon. Falco then helped the two fight a giant False Diddy Kong created by Bowser before Falco appeared. The three defeated the replica and, unwilling to help Diddy, was dragged away by him similar to Fox earlier on. Falco and Fox then led Diddy to their ship the Great Fox. While Fox went to deal with the Battleship Halberd, Falco flew Diddy to the Smash Skiff, where Donkey Kong's trophy was. As Diddy left, Falco gave him the thumbs up sign.

Falco later appeared to aid Fox, Princess Peach, Princess Zelda, Lucario, and Solid Snake in the fight against Duon, a creature created by Shadow Bugs and the trophy of Mr. Game & Watch. After Duon's defeat, Meta Knight piloted the Halberd towards a coastal region where other heroes were located. The heroes then fought a Subspace Gunship, piloted by Bowser and Ganondorf, and defeated it. Falco was among the heroes that entered Subspace and was defeated by Tabuu's Off Waves. Fortunately, his trophy was found by King Dedede, Luigi, and Ness and he was revived. After Tabuu's defeat, Falco was one of the heroes to watch the Smashworld's restoration.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U
Competitively, Falco received large nerfs since Brawl, and is seen by the fanbase as a much weaker character. Otherwise, he is largely unchanged, with the same special moves and Final Smash.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Falco returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, continuing to be an unlockable character. He is unlocked by being the 32nd character to appear during versus matches, clearing Classic Mode with Fox four times, or by rescuing him in World of Light. Falco received a mix of buffs and debuffs, but is overall improved from his previous iteration. His moveset remains largely unchanged, only having a different Final Smash call Team Star Fox that calls down an air strike.

In the World of Light campaign, Falco is vaporized along with the other fighters, except for Kirby, as he is attempting to flee in his Arwing. He can be rescued in the outer space area in the Light Realm, found on the planet resembling Titania.

Falco's amazing jumping abilities have many merits, but it's vital to realize that it comes at the cost of some attack power and defensive strength. He falls at a high speed, which disrupts potential attackers, but this also prevents successful recoveries occasionally. Hit an opponent with Reflector, and he or she will fly straight up; this is Falco's quickest attack.

A Star Fox pilot whose real name is Falco Lombardi. He once roamed the starways as the head of a galactic gang, and his piloting skills are superb. He affects an air of cool disdain and is sometimes uncooperative, but in reality his passion for Star Fox is second to none. He once left the team to fly solo for a time.<br><br>SNES Star Fox<br>DS Star Fox Command

Falco's Final Smash. He jumps aboard the Landmaster high-spec, antiaircraft tank. With the tank's powerful cannon blasts and rolling ability, it's possible to take out all enemies at once. *According to the official Star Fox 64 website, Falco was 19 years old at that time. Considering the fact that Star Fox Command takes place eleven years later, that makes Falco thirty years old as of Star Fox Command.
