Hajime Wakai (若井 淑 Wakai Hajime) is one of the various composers of music in the Star Fox series. His first composition was for Star Fox 64 along with Kōji Kondō. Wakai also returned to compose the music for Star Fox Command. In Star Fox Zero, he supervised the overall sound and music of the game.

In addition to music in the Star Fox series, Hajime Wakai has composed music for F-Zero X (along with Taro Bando), Pokémon Stadium (along with Kenta Nagata and Tōru Minegishi), Pokémon Stadium 2, Pikmin, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (along with Kenta Nagata, Tōru Minegishi, and Kōji Kondō), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords (along with music already composed by Kōji Kondō), Pikmin 2, Nintendogs, New Super Mario Bros. (along with Asuka Ōta and musical leitmotifs already composed by Kōji Kondō), Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (along with Ryo Nagamatsu), Super Smash Bros. Brawl (along with many other composers), Nintendo Land (along with Ryo Nagamatsu), Pikmin 3 (along with Asuka Hayazaki (née Ōta) and Atsuko Asahi), and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (along with many other composers). Wakai also composed the sound effects for Yoshi's Story and Mario Kart Wii. In recent years, he is notable for his involvement in sound direction and composition for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
