Tricky (トリッキー Torikkī) is an EarthWalker (or a triceratops) from the planet Sauria and serves as Fox McCloud's companion in Star Fox Adventures, inwhich Tricky performs different tasks for Fox when fed GrubTubs (mushroom-like food). He can open small caves and act as a flamethrower, among other abilities.

During the time of Star Fox Adventures, Tricky was a prince; he is the son of the King and Queen of the EarthWalker tribe. He accompanies Fox to save his imprisoned father, who was trapped within the Walled City.

His second appearance is in Star Fox: Assault. Tricky has physically matured (now large enough for both Fox and Krystal to ride comfortably), and is now the King of the EarthWalker tribe. After Fox and Krystal save his kingdom from the Aparoids, he promises to help repair Sauria (and also embarrasses Fox by both jumping on top of him and mentioning a honeymoon for him and Krystal).

He was voiced by Kevin Bayliss in Star Fox Adventures, and Chet Morgan in Star Fox: Assault. In the Japanese version of Assault, he has a somewhat deep, teenage-sounding voice and is voiced by a currently-unknown seiyu.

Tricky was possibly based on a triceratops character of the same name, appearing as a boss for the Dino Domain stage in Diddy Kong Racing, also made by Rare. It is also possible that the Tricky of Star Fox Adventures and Diddy Kong Racing are the same since both games were made by Rare although the former is more likely a reference to the latter; when Fox first hears Tricky's name in Star Fox Adventures, he reacts with surprise then sarcastically comments "Nice name!", suggesting that this is an in-joke from the programmers.
