Gameplay
Star Fox Adventures plays similarly to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Its graphics were detailed for its time, and it received particular attention for its real-time fur rendering.CitationNeeded
Unlike traditional Star Fox titles, the gameplay involves Fox going around on foot for most of the game. Fox only pilots his Arwing to travel between different parts of the planet. In Hollow, Fox finds Krystal's Staff lying in the ground, which he uses for a main weapon (as General Pepper prohibited him from using his Blaster). Fox can acquire Staff Upgrades, allowing the Staff to perform various tasks including firing projectiles, freezing enemies, or reaching higher, normally inaccessible locations.
Fox cannot jump unless he runs off the edge of an object or a cliff, and can roll after landing on the ground, in the same fashion that Link jumps off edges in Ocarina of Time. Star Fox Adventures also has a day-and-night phase, but a more accurate and gradual one. One key difference between the gameplay of each game is that Fox can now automatically acquires his targets from approaching them, unlike in Ocarina of Time, where the player must manually trigger a lock-on when controlling Link.
