The Cornerian Assault Carrier is the main planetary assault ship/carrier in the Cornerian Navy. These old starcruisers use to be the workhorse ship in up until the Lylat Wars where it was replaced by the Pleiades-class Cruiser. The assault carrier has two large forward hangers that take up over three quarters of the hull. With these massive hangers it allows the ship to carry a impressive complement of fighters, dropships, guships, Landmaster tanks, and other vehicles. Their standard complement is usually 6 fighter squadrons, 12 dropships/gunships, six landmasters. These configurations can be easily changed for almost any mission profile. However with this large cargo capacity it lacks in armor. With out its shields even the smallest of fighters could devastate the ship. In addition to a weak hull these ships have a minimal armament, with only two forward anti-ship laser batteries and six anti-starfighter lasers. They rely on fighter and frigate escort for protection. Although these carriers are not the primary cruiser anymore they are still in heavy use, mostly for planetary invasion. Most naval battlegroups have at least one carrier. The Cornerian Defense Force still has a full carrier task force for a first response force. After the Aparoid Invasion, Fox McCloud purchased a decommissioned carrier, due to lack of funds.
