The Reflector is a special device used by Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and Wolf O'Donnell in the Super Smash Bros. Series. Its actual physical appearance wasn't revealed until Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where it was shown attached to Fox's belt. Before Brawl, it was generally assumed that the device was generated through some mystical force. Its main purpose is to reflect projectiles back at the opponent, allowing for a more close-range combat, which the Star Fox brawlers are well suited for.

Its actual appearance wasn't revealed until Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where Fox shows it before using it. Before, it was thought that Fox and Falco generated it using some mystical force. When used, Fox creates a blue, hexagonal shield which deflects any projectiles that hit, with the exception of Final Smashes (and water shots from Blastoise in the first two games). It can also be used to damage enemies in close proximity to the user upon activation, sending them away from the center of the Reflector (Just downward in the first two games) with moderate electrical damage. Fox can hold it for unlimited time, and resets his vertical momentum when used midair, enabling a very slow descent on an otherwise fast-falling character.
When used, Fox creates a blue, hexagonal shield which deflects most projectiles that make contact with it, exceptions being certain items or projectiles distributed through a Final Smash. It can also be used to deal minor damage to enemies in close proximity to the user upon activation, sending them away from the center of the Reflector (downward in the first two games). Fox can hold it for an unlimited amount of time, and in Brawl, it resets his vertical momentum while the button is pressed repeatedly, enabling a very slow descent for an otherwise fast-falling character.

Wolf's Reflector
Wolf's Reflector is very different from Fox's or Falco's. Wolf's Reflector device is on his back instead of on his belt. When used by Wolf, he creates a pink, elliptical shield resembling an eye, instead of a blue, hexagonal one. Wolf's Reflector does not protect him from above or below, however, it reflects any projectile with higher speed but less of a damage boost than Falco and Fox's Reflectors. If he is hit from those angles, the Reflector will stop and Wolf will take damage. Another minor improvement on Wolf's reflector is that it creates a slight "vacuum" effect.
The Reflector used by Wolf differs in appearance than the one used by Fox or Falco. When used, it creates a pink, elliptical shield which reflects most shots and projectiles at twice the normal speed. Wolf's Reflector does not protect him vertically. It has the least amount of knockback among the three characters, but invincibility frames are present for a split-second at the beginning of usage, which can be used as part of a combo.
