Macbeth first appeared in the original Star Fox, and was said to be unique in that the planet was mainly hollow, after a geological occurrence that shrunk the planet's core. Andross then used the planet's interior as a munitions dump. The leader of the Venomian troops there was called the Spinning Core.

Macbeth (Japanese: マクベス Macbeth) is a mineral-rich factory planet in the Lylat System. It served as the main industrial center for Venom during the Lylat Wars, supposedly because of its proximity to the toxic planet. It has been largely industrialized, with miners flocking to the planet. The planet is likely named after William Shakespeare's tragedy, Macbeth.

In Star Fox 64, the Macbeth stage is centered around a gigantic train carrying supplies to a distant base; it is one of two areas where the Landmaster tank is used instead of the Arwing. It is unclear if the planet is still hollow, though it still serves as a munitions facility; it is certainly very different in appearance to the original, with no magma visible at the surface and a cloudy blue sky. In Star Fox 64, the boss was Mechbeth, a giant kite that feeds the locomotive fuel from an indestructible second car of the train attached to the locomotive, although as the player reaches it, it is abandoned and Mechbeth becomes a weapon. However, if the player managed to hit an eight-part switch, the railroad tracks would shift, and the train would be sent hurtling into a fuel bunker directly; this ending would not only eliminate the need to fight Mechbeth, but would also send the player to Area 6. If the player defeats Mechbeth manually, it will lose control and crash into the locomotive. If one did not kill Mechbeth fast enough, the train will reach the supply depot and a flaming Mechbeth will burn the player to death.
Overview
Allegedly hollow after a geological event shrunk its core, Macbeth is still able to support life and is well known for containing a wealth of minerals. Home to a large population of miners, engineers, and scientists, travel to and from this planet occurs more often then any other, and it is a seemingly endless source of supplies, although conditions on it can be harsh at times. It has an advanced railway system.

In the cancelled Star Fox 2 Macbeth is a superheated planet completely covered in bubbling magma.
History
Prior to the Lylat Wars, Macbeth was the heart of the Lylat aerospace industry. Gifted minds flocked to the planet to share their knowledge and make vast amounts of money. A consortium of companies was in charge of meeting the demands of ever-increasing orders for their products. Despite making massive sums of wealth, a group of greedy CEOs plotted together to become even more powerful. They betrayed the consortium by swallowing up rival companies through hostile takeovers and leveraged buyouts.

Macbeth is not featured in Star Fox Command, which contains most of the planets from Star Fox 64.
Macbeth During the Lylat Wars
In the confusion and bitter infighting, Andross succeeded in invading the planet and taking control of its resources. After Macbeth was enslaved to Andross the inhabitants were forced to work as slaves supplying the Venomian Army with weapons of war (Including the feared Tripod fighters, which were designed and produced on Macbeth). It became the industrial key to the Venomian war effort and a launch site for interplanetary missiles launched against Corneria. A limited resistance force continued to fight for Macbeth's freedom until the end of the war. As a result of the takeover, a large percentage of Macbeth was cleared away for the Venomian Army's main Weapons Factory/Supply Base.

The Star Fox team attempted to liberate Macbeth and strike a crippling blow to the Venomian war industry. Fox McCloud, piloting the Landmaster, confronted a supply train protected by the bio-mechanical construct Mechbeth. Rather then destroying the machine itself, he was able to send the train it was attached to off-course towards the main supply depot. Unable to slow itself in time, the train crashed at high speeds into the depot, setting off stores of weapons and fuel containers in a dazzling explosion. With the loss of its main production and fueling facilities, Venom was now open to direct attack by the Star Fox team through Area 6.
As of now, it is unknown what happened to Macbeth after the Lylat Wars, but it can be speculated by observing the fate of other planets that the damages were recovered from and the planet's system restored, although perhaps this time it would be more tightly controlled by the government on Corneria.
