'''Bill Grey''' is a fictional, supporting male character from the [[Star Fox (series)|Star Fox series]]. He is an anthropomorphic bulldog with brown fur (although was originally actual gray in color, which even reflected his name). He made his official debut appearance in ''[[Star Fox 64]]''. It is widely believed that Bill Grey is a reincarnation of [[Fay]] from the canceled game ''[[Star Fox 2]]''.

Grey originally hails from planet [[Corneria]], but has settled on planet [[Katina]], as Grey is a member of the [[Cornerian Army]], and he leads an outpost based there. Grey is considered an ace pilot in his own league. He first appeared as an ally in ''[[Star Fox 64]]'' when [[Star Fox (team)|Star Fox]] team assisted him in saving his Katinian outpost, and he later appears repaying Star Fox in either [[Solar]] or [[Sector X]] (depending on what route the player may take, although he would never appear in Sector X if the player never passed through Katina first). Grey's next appearance was in ''[[Star Fox Command]]'', and his role did not change much from his first appearance.


'''William "Bill" Grey''' (ビル・グレイ, Biru Gurei) is a Bulldog ace pilot in the [[Cornerian Army]] that serves out of [[Katina]]. He wears a Green Ace Army Commander Helmet on his head because he's a Commander of his own team. In his childhood, he was good friends with [[Fox McCloud]], who convinced him to join the [[Cornerian Flight Academy]] with him some years ago. When Fox left the Academy to avenge [[James McCloud|his father]]'s death at the hands of [[Andross]], Bill went on to become an ace pilot and was given command of both the [[Husky Squadron|Husky]] and [[Bulldog Squadron|Bulldog]] squadrons. He helped to defend [[Katina]] during the [[Lylat Wars]] and the [[Anglar Blitz]].
Grey is an old friend of [[Fox McCloud]], as they both went to the same military academy together, albeit they both later took different paths in serving their planet, as Grey joined the governmental army whilst McCloud reformed [[James McCloud|his father]]'s team Star Fox, an independent mercenary group.


If the mission is accomplished on [[Katina]], Bill will help with opening the warp gates in [[Sector X]] or help with fighting monsters on [[Solar]], depending on the route Fox takes. A similar role is played by [[Katt Monroe]].
Grey's name is a reference to the character General William Grey, from the 1996 film [[wikipedia:Independence Day (film)|''Independence Day'']]. This strongly evidenced by the fact that the mission on Katina in ''Star Fox 64'' is very similar to a major final scene from the film where an alien destroyer was annihilated after its core was attacked.
