It has been confirmed that PlatinumGames are co-developing the title, alongside ''Bayonetta 2'' director Yusuke Hashimoto. The game is a neither a sequel, prequel, nor a remake, but rather a re-imagining of the early games in the series. The game features some ''[[Star Fox 2]]'' elements like the Arwing transforming into a mech-like vehicle, and a new helipad vehicle called the [[Gyrowing]].
 * <b>November 07, 2014</b> - On the November 5, 2014 Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that the Fox (and possibly Falco) amiibo figurines will be compatible with various games outside of ''Super Smash Bros. for Wii U'', which could include ''Hyrule Warriors'' and ''Mario Kart 8''. In the case of the latter, using a Fox amiibo in that game will allow the playable Mii character to don a Fox McCloud-based suit.
 * <b>September 05, 2014</b> - Yesterday's Nintendo Direct for the Wii U game ''[[wikipedia:Bayonetta 2|Bayonetta 2]]'' revealed the titular character Bayonetta will have the option to don a Nintendo Crossover Costume called "Star Mercenary", which is directly based on [[Fox McCloud]]. It addition, Bayonetta's guns will be fashioned after [[Arwing|Arwings]], and shoot lasers instead of bullets using the signature target-lock reticule. Whilst the Wii U port of the first ''[[wikipedia:Bayonetta|Bayonetta]]'' game will include Crossover Costumes, the "Star Mercenary" is exclusive to the sequel. The game launches in North America and Europe on October 24, 2014. In other news, Nintendo confirms its first wave of 12 [[wikipedia:Amiibo|amiibo]] figurines will include Smash fighter [[smashwiki:Fox (SSB4)|Fox McCloud]], and although they did not confirm a release date, the figurines are now available for pre-order at various physical and online retailers.
