question

WHY. DID. YOU. DELETE. MY. USER PAGE?!? GODZILLER 18:50, 2 February 2012 (PST)

Woops... sorry, forgot to put a reason. :D. Anyway, had to delete it as it included, and pretty much only included, an inappropriate message. Sorry about that. [Tacopill|(talk)] 19:04, 2 February 2012 (PST).
Sorry about that. I just put that there for humor XD. I'll recreate it without that message. GODZILLER 19:07, 2 February 2012 (PST)
Not a problem. And welcome aboard to the wiki. [Tacopill|(talk)] 19:28, 2 February 2012 (PST).

Hi Tacopill

Umm, I was looking at the discussion above mine and it got me thinking. SO I was wondering that if there's anything that you find out of place on my userpage and want me to delete it I will.--2dogboy2 10:46, 20 April 2012 (PDT)

Thank you for your concern, but there is currently nothing bad on your page. Feel free to expand it if you wish. [Tacopill|(talk)] 13:02, 20 April 2012 (PDT)

Ok. thanks.

You are welcome. [Tacopill|(talk)] 14:25, 20 April 2012 (PDT).

Thank you for the info. The pages have been deleted and users blocked. [Tacopill|(talk)] 07:15, 21 April 2012 (PDT)

What happened?

Tacopill, may I know what happened to the wiki? I noticed that it has been down for quite a while... (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 07:46, 30 October 2012 (UTC))

Various things.
  1. First we were at risk for losing the site, due to Neo losing his job. I managed to resuce the site with my payment, but lost the domain due to it being in a separate place from the files.
    • The domain at that point was grabbed squatters and would cost 100 USD to get back.
  2. Afterwhich, Neo asked me to host, but took a few months getting the information to me. Once he did, a whole new set of problems started: database messing up, getting new domain, files transfering, etc.
But all worked out... just took some time. [Tacopill|(talk)] 02:42, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
As long as it gets its skin back :) ToastUltimatum 14:24, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Working on it... possibly. Pulling 60-65hrs a week at work while we are helping recover from the disaster. [Tacopill|(talk)] 19:56, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
I'm glad that it turned out alright...I thought the site was completely lost. Is there anything that I could help with? (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 00:05, 6 November 2012 (UTC))
I can think of two things:
  1. Look around for anything that needs improving, updating, etc.
  2. Introduce yourself to RingtailedFox. [Tacopill|(talk)] 01:59, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Oh, so the site is safe to edit now?
  1. Alright, but may I inquire why? Thank you, Tacopill. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 23:38, 6 November 2012 (UTC))
Yeap. All good.
  1. A lot has changed since version 1.16. We need to get our stuff up to 1.19 standards. Among other changes. [Tacopill|(talk)] 02:13, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
My apologies for the confusion. What I meant to ask is, why do you want me to introduce myself to RingtailedFox? (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 08:28, 15 November 2012 (UTC))
  1. Also, I hope you will forgive me for asking again, but would it be wrong of me to bring the material I wrote from the Versus Mode article on Arwingpedia? I know I have asked this before, but I do not remember your answer. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 09:24, 15 November 2012 (UTC))
Not a problem. RingtaleFox is setting up a Star Fox site, in which he plans to affiliated and link with us; in addition to be a contributor. He helped with the recovery and was willing to host if we needed it. As a fellow admin, I thought it would be nice for the two of you to say "hi".
You can if it existed before the merger. If it does not, then it get more complicated. [Tacopill|(talk)] 02:47, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know...Thank you. It did exist before the merger. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 06

Article

Taco, I do apologize for spamming your talk page. I just had one more question. Should there be a Versus Mode article, or...where should I post what I had written? (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 07:06, 18 November 2012 (UTC))

I don't know if it is as an article is needed. Is there anything unique about any of the Star Fox versus modes? [Tacopill|(talk)] 01:10, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Well it [the versus mode article] wouldn't be created out of necessity, so I am not sure where else to post the information... What I wrote pertains to Assault in paticular, so perhaps it would be better to create a new section in the Assault article instead? (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 03:43, 19 November 2012 (UTC))
that might be a better option, unless it is too large for the Assault page, in which it could be called Versus Mode of Star Fox Assault or some variety there of. It is a balance of multiple factors to see if it is on it own page or part of another page. [Tacopill|(talk)] 02:47, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
Upon reviewing the revision history, there were only two (minor?) edits to the section. I forgot to add two unlockable items. Here is the article in its entirety. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 09:37, 23 November 2012 (UTC))
Alright, you can bring it over but
  1. make sure you include text in the article to say that it was copied from wikia in whole or in part, on a specific date, and that it has been edited since then.
  2. after the transfer, treat the two sites as separate entities. What goes on one site doesn't go on the other.
I can elaborate if needed. [Tacopill|(talk)] 02:12, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
  1. Is this alright?
  2. I am aware of this, Taco... I am truly sorry for obsessing over it, but I wanted it here because, in my humble opinion, I worked very hard on it. I literally wrote down the contents of the mode on paper, then copied it to WordPad and edited it before posting it onto the site as 66.116.9.68 and expanding upon it. Thank you for your patience. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 06:48, 1 December 2012 (UTC))
It is OK. The article looks good. Feel free to mainspace it. [Tacopill|(talk)] 03:39, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
As uh, Versus Mode of Star Fox Assault, or? (Apologies for the long talk page section...) (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 09:32, 2 December 2012 (UTC))
If it only covers one game, then yes. You may also add it to the Template:Tl template. [Tacopill|(talk)] 01:57, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Returned and rearing to go!

I noticed the site's back up, hooray! As a (mostly lurking) contributor to the site, I would be happy to assist with any projects you may need me for. In the meantime, I will be wandering the articles, improving and adding what I can. :3 --2Tie (talk) 23:16, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Welcome back. Help out where you see it is needed, and may I recommend you check out This page. [Tacopill|(talk)] 03:39, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
I've been perusing it occasionally. Which reminds me, the anti-spam thing for external links is proving to be impossible for me to do... I select the cats, but it never verifies... :c
Alright, I will look into it. [Tacopill|(talk)] 01:57, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Kinda off-topic, but I would benefit from the multi-file uploader... Because of all my mass uploading of rips, heh... -2Tie (talk) 04:31, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
I would love too... but it is currently not compatible with this version of the wiki. Check this page out. [Tacopill|(talk)] 01:49, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Size?

I'm sorry if it bothers you to answer this, but can you clarify for me the standard size for images? I mean, can it be 800x600, 1280x720, or 640x480? This is so I know what size to upload an image in it's entirely. Thanks. --Airconny (talk) 15:48, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

There is no standard on sizes. If improving quality happens to changes size, then so be it. Bigger can be better,as it gives more room for pixels to come in, but can create problems when compressing. So, it is a balancing game that can only be solved on a case-by-case basis. [Tacopill|(talk)] 01:57, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Oh, okay. I understand what you mean. I just choose what is the best resolution for that particular image. Thanks. :) --Airconny (talk) 21:38, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
You are welcome. [Tacopill|(talk)] 01:00, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Items

Hey Taco, I'm sorry for bothering you again, but I am wondering if it would be alright to create the Items article and place links to the Main item articles for the various Star Fox games? Or perhaps it could be similar to the Items in Star Fox Assault article? Thank you.(Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 09:32, 3 December 2012 (UTC))

It is fine if you do so. If you wish, you can borrow some ideas from this page. [Tacopill|(talk)] 01:57, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you again...

Hello, tacopill. I am sorry to bother you again, and for the embarrassing question... but I am wondering how to properly reference something from an instruction booklet? I tried on my sandbox but I can't complete it without inserting a game into the field. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 08:39, 8 December 2012 (UTC))

first off, if you aren't aware, you can link to the page internally like this [[User:Wolf_O%27Donnell/Sandbox|sandbox]]
secondly, this page has details on referencing, but the template you are looking for is currently not created. Feel free to create it if you wish, using Template:Tl as a basis. [Tacopill|(talk)] 22:19, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

This idea came to mind

What if we made, like a YouTube channel that gave walkthroughs on the Star Fox games or something? I mean, I could do Assault/Adventures in HD with Fraps, and someone could do the Star Fox, 2, and 64? It could be a good way to share what we know with the outside world. :) We could do a proposal on it, and the ones who want to do it will be given the YouTube account information through e-mail, PM, etc., and post it up. I think it would be a great idea to bring up in discussion. Update: Can't get my screencast program to work. Forget the idea. :(Airconny talk to me here 00:56, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Colors for templates

Taco, can you show me all the color backgrounds for templates? I'm having trouble with the fair use template and it's background and border (I want both to be a light blue or red) and I cannot remember what numbers the colors equal. Help? Airconny talk to me here 18:10, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Template:LW:Color will have all you need to know and more. Of course, feel free to ask questions if it doesn't. [Tacopill|(talk)] 00:46, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Yes! Here it is! Thank you, all I need is this, and I should be done with the Fair use template. Feel free to edit that if it's bad, also. Airconny talk to me here 00:49, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
You are welcome, and not a problem. I will have a look in a minute. [Tacopill|(talk)] 02:27, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Also, any way you can add the fair use template to when uploading a picture? Airconny talk to me here 23:02, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Added it to the License list. Tell me if it shows up for you. [Tacopill|(talk)] 03:45, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
Yep, it's working perfectly. Airconny talk to me here 15:09, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
Sweet! [Tacopill|(talk)] 02:03, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Dinosaur Planet?

Should we also include information on Dinosaur Planet, since that game became SF:A and the Krystal from that game became (somehow) the Krystal most people know? I, for one, totally love everything I've found on it, and I would be happy to contribute what I can on it. -2Tie (talk) 04:12, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

That would be awesome. How would you go about it? Are current templates and article structures set up to meet what you are looking to do, or would we need to change current ones and/or create new ones? [Tacopill|(talk)] 13:05, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure, actually... Almost all content that would be added would either be unreleased content, or content that was modified for SF Adventures. -2Tie (talk) 04:17, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
if it is unrealesed, one could mark it with Template:Tl or something entirely new like this is unreleased info. [Tacopill|(talk)] 15:23, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Sporteen12

Taco, ah, I'm not sure what to do about the user, Sporteen12. He/she/it recently created an article which was basically one long advertisement. I wanted to block the user, but instead I posted a warning on the talk page. I think the user may be a bot. What would you do? (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 09:49, 5 February 2013 (UTC))

if the user only created one page with advertising, talking on their user page is fine. It is if they created multiple pages, or modified multiple pages with spam, very obvious they are a bot, etc. that blocking is warranted. [Tacopill|(talk)] 22:03, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Blocks

Heyo! I went ahead and checked through Special:Listusers to search for all the recent spam users who weren't blocked yet--and I have blocked them to prevent future spamming by their IPs.

That said, I also disabled them from sending email - do you think that would be an appropriate option when blocking spammers? I know most wikis usually leave the 'email' enabled so users can contact the admins about their blocks--but I figured spammers would just abuse it (i.e. continue their disruptive activity via email). •• + DeviantSerpent 08:13, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Only use it if it is an obvious spammer, not for someone who has had history (even a minor one) with the wiki. Some times, a vandal is a really new person, who may have just triggered the system accidentally. [Tacopill|(talk)] 03:09, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
Got it! Thanks, --•• + DeviantSerpent 11:36, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
You are welcome. [Tacopill|(talk)] 21:56, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

File upload issues

Tacopill, it seems that there are issues with the file upload process. I have tried three times to upload an image; however, I was first informed that I have no right to perform this action—which is false—and during the second and third attempts, I received a 400 ("bad request") error from Cloudflare. I have already deleted the browser cache, cookies, and the like in between these attempts. I am wondering if you would be willing to look at this. Thank you for your time. (Wolf O'Donnell (talk) 17:53, 2 August 2018 (UTC))
