Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U are games in the Super Smash Bros. series. They were respectively released for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U in late 2014.
Relevance to Star Fox
- Fox and Falco are both playable characters in the game, their designs now based off of their appearance from Command.
- Andross is featured as an Assist Trophy.
- The Smart Bomb is an item in both versions.
- The Corneria stage returns from Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, exclusive to the 3DS version.
- Orbital Gate Assault, based on Beltino Orbital Gate, is a stage exclusive to the Wii U version. Lylat Cruise also returns from Brawl, but is exclusive to the Wii U version as well.
- A remix of Star Wolf's theme is present in both versions.
- Theme from Area 6/Missile Slipstream, a remix that combines the Area 6 theme from Star Fox 64 with the Missile Slipstream music from Star Fox Command, is featured in both versions.
- Corneria's theme from Melee returns for both versions.
- The music that plays on the Venom stage in Melee returns for the Wii U version.
- The main theme from the original Star Fox appears in the Wii U version.
- The main theme from Star Fox 64 appears in the Wii U version.
- The Area 6 and Area 6 Ver. 2 themes from Brawl also return for the Wii U version.
- The Corneria theme from Brawl appears in the Wii U version.
- Space Armada is also a music piece exclusive to the Wii U version.
- The Star Wolf theme from Brawl returns in the Wii U version only.
- Wolf, Slippy, Peppy, Krystal, Leon Powalski, Pigma Dengar, Andrew Oikonny, Panther Caroso, the Smart Bomb, and Andross are trophies in both versions of the game.
- An Arwing, the Great Fox, a Wolfen, General Pepper, ROB 64, James McCloud, and Andross's true form are trophies exclusive to the 3DS version.
- Falco's Landmaster, Fox's Landmaster, the Arwing design from Star Fox Assault, the Great Fox design from Assault, Orbital Gate, Tricky, Fox's Assault model, Falco's Assault model, the Wolfen design from Assault, Aparoid's Fortuna appearance in Assault, and the Aparoid Queen are trophies exclusive to the Wii U version.
In both versions, the player is able to customize their fighters, adding various equipment such as badges and the like as well as changing their special moves (the custom parts must be collected through gameplay, as they are not available at the start, and most appear at random, with few exceptions that are awarded for completing certain challenges), and this includes Fox and Falco. Below are their custom special moves.
