Slippy Toad is the mechanic and inventor for the Star Fox team and a childhood friend of Fox. His father is Beltino Toad, whom he has worked with for developing various inventions, including vehicles like the Arwing and Landmaster or weapons like the Reflector and Blaster.

Appearance
Physiology
Slippy resembles a humanoid Toad with green skin, and bulging eyes, giving him the appearence of a Bullfrog, even though his last name suggests he is a toad. His eyes are also blue, and he is rather short, and pudgy. He usually wears a maintenance suit, and wears a small mechanics hat. He has also briefly been seen with a necklace in Star Fox, Star Fox 2, The Nintendo Power Comic, and briefly in Star Fox Command. In one of the endings of Star Fox Command, he appears to have grown a gray beard.
Slippy's last name suggests that he is a species of toad, but he closely resembles a bullfrog. Slippy is rather short and pudgy, and also has blue eyes.

Slippy wears a red cap that usually has his name imprinted on it and is humorously placed in between his eye-sockets and a yellow bodysuit with different kinds of equipment including a utility belt and a watch. In games before Assault, Slippy is shown with a jacket similar to the one Fox wears and similar pants. He is the only character, along with Krystal, to keep his bodysuit from Assault (although in some cutscenes, he is seen with his other outfit).
In game History
Lylat Wars
Slippy also wore a trademark bead necklace in Star Fox, Star Fox 2 and in the Nintendo Power comic, but this is absent in Star Fox 64 and subsequent games until Star Fox Command, where one of the endings shows an elderly Slippy wearing a similar necklace.
Slippy participated in the Lylat Wars. He fought at the battle of Corneria, where he got tailed by an enemy, but was rescued by Fox. He then helped out in many of the other battles, including the battle of Aquas, where he provided Fox with the Blue Marine. During the Battle of Sector X, he tried to take Spyborg by himself, but was shot down, and crashed on Titania, where the Goras captured him. Fox rescued him and destroyed the Goras, and Slippy then rejoined the mission. He fought against Star Wolf at the battle of Venom, where he defeated his rival Andrew Oikonny. After Fox killed Andross, Slippy returned to Corneria, and he and the team were congratulated by General Pepper.

Titania Incident
History
During the Titania Crisis, Slippy was once again captured by the Goras. He escaped, and tried to hault Andross's revival, but accidentally accelerated it. Fox eventually killed the Andross clone, and stopped Andross from coming to power, but Falco decided to leave the team.
Spoiler
Star Fox / Star Fox 64
Slippy first fought in the battle of Corneria, where Fox had to rescue him from some enemy fighters. Slippy would also participate in subsequent battles, starting with Granga and the Attack Carrier. Later in Meteo, Slippy helps with destroying the Rock Crusher and gets into the portal to Katina. He helps with destroying most of the enemy fighters, and is capable of analyzing every boss's shield. During Solar, Slippy proudly claims that Arwings can handle temperatures at 9000 degrees maximum. Starting with Fichina, Slippy has a direct rivalry with Andrew Oikonny, as they get in a dogfight match. He also has somewhat of a rivalry with Falco, as they often make snide remarks about each other.

Sauria Crisis
As he battles Spyborg on Sector X, Slippy attempts to fight him alone, but is slapped away to Titania. Over there he gets captured by the Goras, whom the Star Fox team would eventually battle. After being rescued, Slippy rejoined the Star Fox team on their missions.
By that time, the Star Fox Team had been losing money, and the Great Fox and ROB had fallen into disrepair. Eventaully though, General Pepper gave the team another mission: To save Sauria, which is literally falling apart. Slippy helped Fox with the mission, giving him information, and also giving him the Sharpclaw Device. Eventually, Andross was revived once again, but Fox was abke to kill him for good, and Falco also returned to the team. Krystal also joined the team as well. "The Star Fox Team is back together again!" Slippy said.
The Oikonny Rebellion Conflict
Slippy participated in a small conflict cause by a rebellion devised by Andrew Oikonny. Slippy faught at the Battle of Fortuna, where he was attacked twice, but rescued by Fox. Eventually, Oikonny was defeated, but not by the team. A wierd creature called an Apariod attacked him, and the team. The Aparoid was defeated though, but it eventually started a new war.
The Aparoid Invasion
Slippy helped in war against the Aparoids. At the Battle of Sargasso, he helped occupy the space station, and later helped track down Pigma, and kill him, and take the Core Memory. Slippy then helped at The Battle of Corneria, but was upset that they had to fight General Pepper. He then helped in The battle of the Beltino Orbital Gate, and later in the invasion of the Apariod Homeworld. They were about to invade, but the Apariods set up a last resort sheild. Peppy and ROB however, rammed the Great Fox into the shield, destroying it, and allowing the team to go through, while Peppy and ROB were supposedly killed in the explosion. Slippy then fought against the Queen, but warned Fox that if she escaped, she could create an Antibody. They eventually killed the Queen, and the Apariods. They were eventually rejoined by Peppy and ROB, who survived the blast.
The Anglar Blitz
Slippy eventually left and started a love life with Amanda. Slippy then helped in The Anglar Blitz, where he either helped kill the Anglar Emporer and join the team again, or either settled down with Amanda and have a family.

Game Appearances
On Aquas, Slippy provides tips to Fox about the Blue Marine and shows disgust at the pollution. Slippy helps with destroying the searchlights at Zoness. At Sector Z he assists with destroying some missiles. On Macbeth, he asks Fox how the Landmaster works for him, and also destroys some fighters. At Bolse he informs Fox that the fighters are shielded and again fights Andrew of Star Wolf. At Area 6 he helps fend off some fighters and gives information on the Gorgon's weakness. On Venom he tries to stay clear of the temple where Golemech is, but goes in. At Andross's palace, he fights Andrew again and unsuccessfully advises Fox about going in. After Fox killed Andross, the team returned to Corneria to be congratulated and offered a commission by General Pepper. They then head to the Great Fox and fly of into the sunset.

Star Fox Adventures
Slippy also appeared in Star Fox Adventures, which takes eight years after the Lylat Wars. Slippy withdrew from active flight duty to work on inventions in the Great Fox, such as the Disguise which he gives to Fox at Fortress. His other main role was providing Fox with information and hints regarding his current surroundings, and also communicates to him during the Arwing missions. At the start of their adventure, Slippy was busy repairing ROB 64. The Star Fox team was successfully reunited after Andross's second and ultimate defeat. With the return of Falco and Krystal joining the team, Slippy happily recited: "The Star Fox Team is back together again."

Star Fox: Assault
In Star Fox: Assault, Slippy joined Star Fox with battling Andrew Oikonny at Fortuna. Arriving just in time to save the Cornerian fleet from destruction, Slippy and the team got into their Arwings, and fought against the Venomian Fleet. Slippy was tailed and rescued by Fox, to which Falco teased Slippy saying "You haven't changed a bit, frog-boy".

During the battle with Oikonny, Slippy was able to find his stealth squadron via radar and warned Fox of the incoming enemy. They were eventually forced to go planet side, since Oikonny had made a hasty retreat there. At the battle, they reached Oikonny's base, only to find the Venomian army had plotted against them. Slippy was trailed again and was rescued by Fox again. The team caught up to Oikonny and Slippy downloaded his shields, so the Star Fox team were easily capable of defeating Oikonny.

As Oikonny was taunting the team, he was suddenly fired down by an unknown assailant, which tried killing Krystal. Fox defeated the enemy, only for Slippy to warn him of more incoming enemies. General Pepper revealed the assailants to be Aparoids. It was revealed to Slippy's chagrin that his father, Beltino Toad, was the research director. Beltino Toad also revealed to Fox and the Star Fox team that the item Fox obtained from an Aparoid was its Core Memory.

As General Pepper suddenly alerted the team of a distress signal from Katina Outpost, Fox commands Slippy and the rest to cover him from Arwings. At the battle, dozens of Aparoids were found, which later dropped Aparoid Hatchers. Slippy was tailed and rescued by Fox, who was piloting a Landmaster. During the mission, Slippy wondered if the building had any survivors.

When the Aparoid Walker appeared, Slippy panicked at its massive size, saying "It's huge!" He also downloaded the shield data of the Aparoid Walker, and the team could defeat him. The Star Fox team also discovered its Core Memory, which was suddenly and abruptly stolen by Pigma Dengar.

At the Battle of Sargasso, Slippy helped occupy the space station, and later helped with tracking down Pigma and retrieving the Core Memory. Slippy then helped at the Battle of Corneria, but was distraught at General Pepper's condition. He then assisted at the Beltino Orbital Gate, and in the invasion of the Aparoid Homeworld. The team was about to invade, but the Aparoids set up a last resort shield. Slippy then fought against the Queen, but warned Fox that if she escaped, she would be able to counter the self-destruct program she had been infected with. They eventually killed the Aparoid Queen, also destroying any Aparoids she had controlled.

Versus Mode
Slippy is a playable character in the Versus Mode of Star Fox Assault. He has the second highest stamina (first being Wolf) and is the most skilled with the Landmaster. He also has the second best jumping ability, behind Peppy, although he has low speed. Slippy's preferred weapon is the Grenade.

Star Fox Command
In Star Fox Command, Slippy temporarily withdrew from the Star Fox team to spend more time with his newfound love, Amanda. However, the Cornerian forces got in a war with the Anglar Empire, so Fox called Slippy to rejoin the team. Slippy happily decides to rejoin the team in his new Bullfrog aircraft. Based on the ending, Slippy he either rejoined the team and helped kill the Anglar Emperor, or settled down with Amanda and started a family.

After the Aparoid race was destroyed in Star Fox Assault, Slippy temporarily withdrew from the Star Fox team to spend more time with his newfound love, Amanda. However, when Fox needs backup taking out the Anglar forces, Slippy is happy to come to his assistance again. He pilots a new starfighter, the Bullfrog. In one of the endings, Slippy has a large family with Amanda, and his eldest son becomes a member of the Star Fox team under the leadership of Marcus McCloud. In a future time period, Slippy tells his numerous grandchildren of the Star Fox team's legacy.

Super Smash Bros. series
Slippy has a minor role in Super Smash Bros. Melee, where he assists Fox in the 23rd event match, Slippy's Invention. He created a cloaking device for Fox and Falco to use during that event. Although Slippy is the supposed inventor of the Cloaking Device, its game listings in Trophy mode don't show that it has any relation to the Star Fox series. Slippy can also appear if the character (as either Fox or Falco) does a secret taunt (done by alternatively tapping the left and right buttons on the control pad) on the Corneria or Venom stages.

Slippy also has a minor appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He, along with Krystal, Peppy, Panther, and Leon, with Fox, Falco and Wolf, occasionally, will make a few comments in a secret taunt in the Lylat Cruise stage, as well as the past stage Corneria. One of the messages reveals Slippy's relation to Leon. There are two stickers of Slippy, respectively based on his Star Fox 64 and Assault artworks.

Additionally in the Metal Gear-themed stage "Shadow Moses Island", whenever Snake tries to gather information on Falco, Slippy intercepts and tell Snake about Falco instead. In this conversation, it is revealed that Slippy designed the reflector and blaster weapons Fox and Falco use in the games.

Slippy appears as a trophy in Melee, Brawl, and Super Smash Bros. 4. He is a Spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which is based on his Star Fox Zero artwork.

Personality
Slippy Toad is the son of Beltino Toad, the Research Director for the Cornerian Defense Force. Both Slippy and Beltino invented and constructed many inventions for the team, including the Blue Marine. In the gap between Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Adventures, both the Toads, Slippy and Beltino, briefly designed aircraft for Cornerian Defense Force. He is hinted as being less athletic than the rest of the team. Example are found in the ending of Star Fox 64, when the team runs a long distance, where Slippy slowly falls behind, and in the introduction of the same game, Slippy is seen falling behind his wingmates. Also, in Star Fox Assault, in the scene where everybody jumps into their ships for launching, Slippy ends up falling head first into his ship. Slippy played a major role in the Lylat Wars as a new and inexperienced Arwing pilot. During dogfights between Star Fox and Star Wolf, Slippy shares a rivalry with Andrew Oikonny. His main role is providing information about the area, similar to Peppy Hare, and analyzing the shield strength of bosses. Slippy's inexperience and lack of talent while flying get him into trouble more often than any other team member, for which Falco taunts him mercilessly.

Relationships with other characters
Slippy and Fox are childhood friends. The two seem to get along the most out of all other members of the Star Fox team; Fox is always prepared to help Slippy in times of grave need, as seen in Star Fox 64 when Slippy and his Arwing are knocked into Titania's atmosphere by Spyborg, in which Fox was willing to risk delay and dangerous outcome by traveling to the planet and saving Slippy using the Landmaster. In return, Slippy provides Fox (and usually other team members) with top-notch technology in the Super Smash Bros. games, like the reflector, and gives Fox valuable information in a manner similar to Peppy's when giving advice.

Falco is also a good friend of Slippy's, but the two are known to have a small rivalry, as Falco oftentimes picks on Slippy. Falco has shown disapproval of the Slippy-designed Landmaster and the Blue Marine (as seen while Fox was going through Aquas in Star Fox 64), despite using one with enhanced hovering capabilities in Super Smash Bros. Brawl . Slippy mentions to Snake in Brawl that Falco likes to "show off" his on-hand equipment, like his special reflector, which is magnetic and is kicked for a boomerang effect. In Assault, Slippy generally annoys Falco, and in Star Fox 64, the two bicker a lot, though to a lesser extent in Assault.

In Brawl during one of the secret taunt conversations at the Lylat Cruise stage, Slippy tries to relate to Leon Powalski by pointing out that they are both members of the reptilian family. Leon, of course, disdainfully agrees, but is later annoyed to the point where he flies away.

In Command, Slippy meets a toad named Amanda, with whom he forms a relationship with and soon marries. In one of the endings, they have numerous children, and one of them (colored orange) joins the new Star Fox team led by Marcus McCloud.

Slippy Toad is the mechanic and inventor for the Star Fox team and a childhood friend of Fox. His father is Beltino Toad, whom he has worked with for developing various inventions, including vehicles like the Arwing and Landmaster or weapons like the Reflector and Blaster.

Physiology

Slippy also wore a trademark bead necklace in Star Fox, Star Fox 2 and in the Nintendo Power comic, but this is absent in Star Fox 64 and subsequent games until Star Fox Command, where one of the endings shows an elderly Slippy wearing a similar necklace.

History

Spoiler warning: The following contains key plot or ending details.

As he battles Spyborg on Sector X, Slippy attempts to fight him alone, but is slapped away to Titania. Over there he gets captured by the Goras, whom the Star Fox team would eventually battle. After being rescued, Slippy rejoined the Star Fox team on their missions.

Slippy withdrew from active flight duty to work on inventions in the Great Fox, such as the SharpClaw Disguise which he gives to Fox at CloudRunner Fortress.

Slippy Toad is the mechanical genius behind most of the Star Fox team's new weapons and technology, and just lately he's been spending the bulk of his time in Research and Development. He's also a competent pilot, but his enthusiasm tends to outweigh his technical flight skills. He and Fox have been friends ever since their school days.

 • Snake: This is Snake...
 • Slippy: Copy, Snake! This is Slippy!
 • Snake: Whaa--! Who is this? What are you, some kind of frog?!
 • Slippy: Easy there, buddy! Just thought I'd hop on the wireless and give you a holler. Don't get mad!
 • Snake: Hacked right into my channel, huh...
 • Slippy: But I'm not there to mess nothin' up. Don't worry.
 • Snake: (groans) ...
 • Slippy: Just so ya know, Falco uses a Blaster and Reflector that I designed, just like Fox does. But Falco will kick his Reflector and send it flyin' around. Just showin' off, if you ask me.
 • Snake: No reason a weapon can't have more than one use. In fact, I'd say it's versatility shows how well you designed it.
 • Slippy: Hey, maybe so! I feel all fuzzy now! Thanks, Snake!
 • Snake: Maybe next time we meet, you can design me a weapon...
