Fox using his Reflector in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
"Just so you know, Falco uses a Blaster and Reflector that I designed."
— Slippy Toad, Super Smash Bros. Brawl

The Reflector is a special device used by Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and Wolf O'Donnell in the Super Smash Bros. Series. Its actual physical appearance wasn't revealed until Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where it was shown attached to Fox's belt. Before Brawl, it was generally assumed that the device was generated through some mystical force. Its main purpose is to reflect projectiles back at the opponent, allowing for a more close-range combat, which the Star Fox brawlers are well suited for.

Fox's Reflector

When used, Fox creates a blue, hexagonal shield which deflects most projectiles that make contact with it, exceptions being certain items or projectiles distributed through a Final Smash. It can also be used to deal minor damage to enemies in close proximity to the user upon activation, sending them away from the center of the Reflector (downward in the first two games). Fox can hold it for an unlimited amount of time, and in Brawl, it resets his vertical momentum while the button is pressed repeatedly, enabling a very slow descent for an otherwise fast-falling character.

Falco's Reflector

Falco's Reflector is used the same way as Fox's in Super Smash Bros. Melee, except it deals more damage and has more knockback upon collision with another opponent (and sends that opponent upwards). In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Falco kicks his reflector, and it is activated by hitting it. It was personalized to come back to him like Link and Toon Link's Boomerang (makes the opponent to slip most of times it hits him/her). The shield will protect the front of him for the duration of the toss, but not his backside. Slippy Toad bragged to Solid Snake that he himself designed Falco's Reflector, which quite possibly means that he also designed the one Fox uses.

Wolf's Reflector

The Reflector used by Wolf differs in appearance than the one used by Fox or Falco. When used, it creates a pink, elliptical shield which reflects most shots and projectiles at twice the normal speed. Wolf's Reflector does not protect him vertically. It has the least amount of knockback among the three characters, but invincibility frames are present for a split-second at the beginning of usage, which can be used as part of a combo.
