Corneria (Japanese: コーネリア Corneria) is the name of a fictional Earth-like planet from the Star Fox series. Corneria is the fourth distant planet in the Lylat System, and apparently the most populated. It used to be a lush environment, fully supportive of life before Andross turned the majority of the planet into a wasteland during the Lylat Wars. It is considered to be the home planet for most of the Star Fox team members, and their respective known families. Andross also used to live on Corneria before he was banished to Venom.

Corneria is also base to Corneria City, and the Cornerian Defense Force. Corneria appeared in every known Star Fox game to date, except for Star Fox Adventures, although it was one referenced at least once.

Star Fox

Corneria, known as Corneria - The Base on the stage opening, is the first stage of all three levels.

The boss of this stage is the Attack Carrier.

The manual gives this description:

Planet IV: Corneria

The fourth planet in the Lylat System, Corneria, is known as the "bread basket" of the system. It is a fertile farming world with a variety of climates and terrains. Most of the inhabitants live in the shelter of the mountain ranges, where the most productive farming soil can be found. Corneria is a peaceful planet with only the smallest of defense forces. Most of its starships are designed for exploration and transportation. When Andross's invasion fleet threatened the planet, it was up to General Pepper to improvise some kind of planetary defense. He hired the Star Fox Team to pilot the experimental Arwing Fighters.

Star Fox 2

Corneria is not a stage in Star Fox 2, but it is pivotal to gameplay. Star Fox must prevent its damage from getting to 100% by defeating enemies.

Star Fox 64

Responding to a emergency call from General Pepper, the Star Fox mercenary team was hired to aid the main army base, which had been overrun by the Venomian Army. Arriving at the main city of Corneria, Star Fox was shocked at the destruction.[1].

Corneria is the first level of the game. There are two paths that can be taken:

  • If the player does not save Falco and/or does not fly under the arches in the sea, the player will fight Granga, and beating him takes the player to Meteo.
  • There is a secret path that one can take by saving Falco, flying under the arches in the sea, and then following him. The boss is Attack Carrier on this path, and beating it will take the player to Sector Y.

In the Super Smash Bros. series

SmashWiki has an article on Corneria.

Corneria appears as a stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee. In this stage, combat is fought on the Great Fox, but in a 2-dimensional plane. Arwings fly by and shoot at the combatants, which can cause high damage and knockback. The Great Fox's cannons also shoot lasers but can be destroyed during the match. Also, during the match, Fox or Falco can contact their teammates by lightly tapping down on the D-Pad. This stage also reappears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a Melee stage, in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Trivia

  • Corneria's Japanese name is shared with a kingdom in the original Final Fantasy game, whose name was localized as "Coneria" or "Cornelia" in the English versions.
