Warp Zone (called Out of this Dimension! in Star Fox) is a strange location found outside of the known space of the Lylat System, or existence as we know it.
Star Fox
The zone is comprised of black space filled with various colored and sized moons. The only enemy found in this level is also exclusive to this level: the paper plane which is a small threat by itself, but can often swarm the player in large numbers. The end boss of this level is the mysterious Slot Machine.
This level, unlike others, does not end after beating the boss, but rather plays on infinitely with the credits scrolling by. The player can then shoot at each of the letters of "THE END" and turn them over. After a while, however, the letters resituate themselves.
Access
Out of this Dimension! appears in Star Fox as an easter egg in the game. The realm could only be accessed through a series of abnormal maneuvers as follows:
- Complete Corneria on the Hard Path.
- Destroy the second large grey asteroid.
- Fly into the belly of the giant bird that emerges from it.
Star Fox 64
The Warp Zone is also used in Star Fox 64 as a very strange way to warp to other locations.
Meteo's Warp Zone
Being accessed by going through naturally occuring Warp Portals, the area is full of meteors and biomechanic enemies. Shooting the Enemies and the meteors gives you both points and power-ups. Completing this area will take you to Katina on the Normal Difficulty Route.
Sector X's Warp Zone
Being entered by accessing artificial Warp Gates, the area is filled with shifting shapes and Xs. There are also a few mechanisms(that strangely look like television "snow") as well. Not much is given, but completing it takes you to Sector Z on the Hard Difficulty Route.
Trivia
- The background music for this stage is a remixed version of Johan Strauss' Voices of Spring.
- Coincidentally, the background music for the battle with the Slot Machine is also When the Saints Go Marching In.
